Pot size and cutting usage:

Cuttings and Cultural:
The cuttings we supply will be either a top cutting or an intermediate cutting. Please don't cool the cuttings. The optimum storage temperature for the cuttings is between 60 and 70 degrees F.
The cuttings will grow between ( intermediate cutting) 2 to 3 new breaks for faster filling the pot. Keep temperature preferably around 75 degrees F for rooting, for growing temperature can be lowered to 68 to 70 F. Keep this temperature constant, not too much fluctuation is accepted by the Fittonia.. The humidity should be around 85 to 90% during rooting time, which is typically 2 weeks. You can cover the first 4 days the pots with plastic or other cloth if you like. The Light level should be very low around 7000 lux is optimum, when rooting. For growing it can go to 8000 lux max. Make sure this is not exceeded. White washing the greenhouses, screening are allways to get the light lever lower. An easy way in knowing if you do a correct light level job is watching the foliage. The leaves have to stay upright a bit and than light level is fine. if the leaves are flat on the pot, light is too high. just as a pragmatic indication for the grower.
Keep in mind this is a plant growing in the rainforest (of Peru) on the lowest level, that is, ground level.
The plants can be grown pot-to-pot when rooting and the first weeks after. The final setting is heart to heart 9" for a 4.5" pot.
Keep EC levels in the pot at 0.8 to 1.0 EC and pH is best at 5.5 to 6.0
The Fittonia are very strong, not only as shelf life, but insects and or other diseases basically don't exist.
For soil use a good drainage soil, peat is perfect for these plants.
