In the natural greenhouse climate of Costa Rica a New Zealand native found a new home. Here we grow some of the most attractive design plants available to the industry today.... Phormiums - The New Zealand Flax. With a wide assortment of varieties offering a wide range of color combinations this wonderful plant make any border stand out and any planter come to life.

We specialize in the production of Phormium young plants. We supply wholesale growers a liner or pot that can be used to pot up into a larger container and grown on for future sale. Utilizing the climate we have we can offer an aggressively growing Phormium ready for the next step in the production process.

We are currently producing 15 varieties of Phormiums. Here is the list of our varieties with a short description. Please feel free to let us know which ones we are missing and whether we can contract grow for you.
 
  • Phormium Varieties

    Amazing Red, A very dark reddish/brown foliage that will grow to aprox 1m (3ft) in height, the foliage will curve downward at the tips.

    2. Apricot Queen, Soft yellow and cream striped leaves that turn to an apricot color as they mature. Leaves will grow to 50 to 75 mm (2 to 3") wide and the leaves will grow to a height of 1.2m (4ft)

    3. Creme Delight, A weeping variety not quite as wide as the apricot queen, leaf color is creamy-white, and the plant will grow to aprox 1m (3ft).

    4. Evening Glow, extremely attractive variegated Pink/Red with a dark edge. Older leaves tend to weep while the newer leaves are upright and erect. Leaves will get to 50 to 60mm wide (2-2 1/2"). Grows to a height of around 1m (3ft).

    5. Golden Ray, A distinctive upright variety with rich yellow and green variegation and highlighted with a orange/red margin on the outside of the leaf. Leaves are 50 - 75mm (2-3") wide and the overall height will get to 1.2m (4ft).

    6. Jester, this wonderful weeping variety with lime green and rusty orange variegation. Grows to around 1m (3ft) in height and will weep. Foliage grows to 30-60mm width (1 1/2 to 2 1/2").

    7. Jack Spratt, A tough dwarf variety lends itself well for border edges, grows to .33m (1ft). Grows rapidly to form a dense, compact clump with many small fans. THe leaves are narrow and dark bronze in color.

    8. Pink Panther, this striking rich pink variegated with red and bronze outer margins shows extremely well in partial shade, a slight shorter growing variety that produces many fans, leaves will get to 25 to 60mm wide (1" to 2 1/2"). Grows to aprox 0.8m (2 1/2ft).

    9. Pink Stripe, larger growing variety to 1.2 to 2m (4-6ft). Silver and bright pink variegation. Wide leaves to 75mm (3"). Pink more vivid in newer growth.

    10. Platts Black, a very dark purple/black form with a very distinct arching form. Leaves grow to 50 to 75mm wide (2-3"). The underside of the leaves are a dark grey giving a nice contrast on this 1m high (3ft) variety.

    11. Rainbow Maiden, apricot to pinkish red leaves with thin green margins on a gorgeous arching form growing to .6 to 1m (2-3ft). Leaves will grow to 30-60mm (1 1/2 to  2 1/2"). A hardier variety able to tolerate temperatures of -7c (19F).

    12. Rainbow Queen, a strong growing variety with a rusty/bronze centre with bright pink margins. Leaves can get to 75mm (3") wide. Grows to 1.2m (4ft) Grows well in partial shade.

    13. Rainbow Sunrise, in between an arching and upright form, an attractive bronze/green with red and pink stripes, older leaves turn yellow, this variety does tend to revert. Will grow to 1 to 1.2m (3-4ft).

    14. Sundowner, a vigorous upright variety similar in color to Pink Stripe, will grow to 1.2 to 2m (4-6ft). Wide leaves upto 100 mm (4"). Leaves are bronze/green with reddish-pink margins. Maintains excellent color.

    15. Tricolor, a strong growing yellow (outer) and green (inner) variegated variety growing to 1 to 1.2m (3-4ft) with a slight rusty orange edge.

     

Liners.

This is a product that is planted as a single division into a rooting tray. Each cell is aprox 2 1/2" (7cm) deep X 1 1/4" X 1 1/4" (3.5cm) wide.

This product is ideal for transplanting on into any size pot up to 1 g or 3L. For handling requirements please do not hesitate to contact us.

Pots. 

This product is a fully grown 4" (10cm) round pot. we can offer this with extensive growth for a quicker finish in a larger pot or a less mature product for more growing on. Pricing will vary to what product you require and quantity. 

100mm (4") Pots pack 60 per box, 1 variety per box, minimum order of 6 boxes.
